Stefani Kuo is a native of Hong Kong and a recent graduate of Yale University in Theatre Studies. She is currently based in New York, and is most interested in working with art that is not only good but important. The work she wants to make is art that is responsible.
Her work as a playwright include Architecture of Rain, which premiered at the Iseman Theatre with the Yale Dramatic Association, and puffin heart which will be produced this upcoming summer at the Corkscrew Theater Festival in New York. She was a finalist for the Van Lier New Voices Fellowship 2018, DVRF Playwrights' Program 2018, She NYC 2018, and SPACE on Ryder Farm 2016,
As a poet, she recently performed spoken word at the Kent School, Connecticut. And this past August and September she was an artist in residence at the Centre of Substructured Loss in Berlin. Her work was displayed as an installation during Berlin Art Week.
As an actor, she will be playing Lady Grey in a production of Richard III directed by Nana Dakins this upcoming March.
She is represented as a model by Abbey Lynn Models, based in Brooklyn.
She is fluent in English, French, Mandarin, and Cantonese. Her work in translation and non-fiction involve all four languages, and has appeared in China Hands, and the New York Times. She considers all her work an act of translation.
